Very Big Very Asian Comedy Festival is a NYC based curated festival of some of the best AAPI comedians in the industry along with up-and-coming comics you don't want to miss. This MUST-SEE multi-day event is the refreshing festival we all need, just in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! There will be Stand-Up Comedy and Roast & Honey Roast Battles! With this festival, we are focused on three things:
Comedy, Community and Connections.
Very Big Very Asian Comedy regularly produces sold-out shows at Broadway Comedy Club & Greenwich Village Comedy Club comprised of an all AAPI lineup, amplifying the importance of year-round support for our comedians in New York City!
MEET THE TEAM
Christine Kim - Executive Producer
Christine is a Korean-American comedian, writer, actor and producer of the sold-out Very Big Very Asian Comedy in NYC at Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club. She co-hosts and co-produces Nice To Meet You Comedy in Brooklyn and Street Cred Comedy in the city - both comedy shows focus on providing a diverse lineup. She is an SNL scholarship recipient as seen on thecomicscomic.com and a St. Nells Humor Writing Resident. She was formerly the Business Manager at The PIT.
James Han - Associate Producer
James is a supporter of the Asian American community. He is the Director of IT at a community health organization that focuses on providing culturally competent services that enhance the quality of life; advocating for and providing a welcoming environment for underserved and vulnerable people, especially Asians and Pacific Islanders, the LGBT Community, and individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. He has provided technical director and film/editing services in comedy theaters throughout NYC.
Will Purpura - Associate Producer
Will Purpura is a comedian, writer, and actor based in New York, NY. Will has a high-energy act that features an offbeat sensibility and unique timing. Will has been featured in the Westside Comedy Festival (LA) the North Carolina Comedy Festival (Greensboro), West End Comedy Festival (Atlanta) and Devil Cup Comedy Festival (NY). Will was a finalist in both the 2019 NC’s Funniest Competition at Goodnights in Raleigh and the 2019 Ultimate Comedy Challenge in Greensboro, NC. Will’s jokes have been feature in The Funny Introvert and the Poke (UK). Will recently taped his half hour special which will be released this year! Will has produced and assisted with several shows and festivals across the US.
David Jung - ASSISTANT PRODUCER
David is a writer/producer/actor who loves supporting diverse comedy shows. During the day he supports MF Supply, a WBE/WOSB business. He co-hosts and co-produces Re:Pitch podcast; a podcast where movies are revisited, reviewed and redone. He has written for The Odyssey Online!
Mary Corigliano - Director, EMAIL MARKETING
Mary is a Full-time Email Marketing Manager for 4AllPromos and Freelance Video Editor based out of New York City. Mary writes, directs, and produces her own sketch comedy show called “That Just Happened,” and has received awards & recognitions from National Lampoon, Comedy Central, Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, Upright Citizens Brigade, JellyFest, London Worldwide Comedy Short Film Festival, Asylum NYC, Upright Citizens Brigade, and People’s Improv Theater. Mary’s show “That Just Happened” was also a featured Act at Chicago SketchFest in 2019 with sold out audiences each night. Caitlin Arcand - DiRECTOR, SOCIAL MEDIA
Caitlin Arcand is a comedian using her psychology degree for anything but being a psychologist. She was recently named one of Buzzfeed's Women to Watch for her woman-centered humor platform Ladyspike Media, and has been seen all around the country on stages like the North Carolina Comedy Festival, Portland Comedy Festival, and Fringe NYC to name a few. Outside of comedy, Caitlin is an active comedy producer and digital media/PR professional in the TV and film industry. She has worked with with clients from Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, Wicked Queer Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and more!
LEE LAn - CoMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Lee is a stand up comedian, show host, podcast host of The Wayward Pod and show producer of Lychee Martini Comedy, Sunday Supper Comedy and Chill Chai Comedy. She performs comedy both in English and in Mandarin. Lee believes in the power of community. Fun facts about Lee: food, her cat, board games and she really wants a dog.
